Citroen C5 Car Performance Review

The Australian division of French carmaker Citroen is recalling certain C5 Tourer models on account of no less than four different problems, affecting a total of some 600 vehicles.

Citroen announced last week it is recalling 72 cars due to loose tailgate strut ball-joints, 105 because of poor engine running, 128 that could have loose tailgate spoilers and some 134 with potentially loose windscreen trims, GoAuto reported.

For the models affected by the loose tailgate strut ball-joints, the fault may cause rattling tailgates. The engine problems found in the 105 vehicles may cause poor engine performance, while for the last two problems, the cars may lose their tailgate spoilers or side windscreen trims completely.

The recall applies on a nationwide basis in Australia and customers are advised to contact their local dealer to have the problems fixed. As usual, fixing the issues will come at no cost for the owners.

The C5 Tourer was launched in Australia in September 2008, at the same time with the sedan version. For the local market, the C5 is available in three versions:

2.0l turbo-diesel HDi Comfort AU$55,990
2.0l turbo-diesel HDi Exclusive AU$60,990
2.7l V6 HDi Exclusive AU$69,490

The C5 Tourer was nominated, together with the Fiat 500 and the Jaguar XF, for the 2009 World Car Design of the Year award back in March.
