There's a reason why the new Farbio GTS looks and sounds a lot like the 2003 Farboud GTS sports car. The Farboud super car company changed its name to the more Italian-sounding Farbio early in 2007, so now we have the 2007 Farbio GTS.As the images attest, it looks a like like its four-year-old precursor. It borrows a few elements from Ferrari's 360 Modena, and amongst the sophisticated rear end and smoothly tapered roof, and large air intakes in the doors, there's even a touch of the McLaren F1 to the front end.
The previous GTS model was powered by a highly worked version of the 2.8-litre twin-turbo V6 used in the now superseded Audi RS6, but this 432kW engine was believed to have been too powerful for the model.
As such, Farbio now offers two less powerful, but lighter models, ensuring that performance hasn't been greatly compromised.
Basic models weigh just 1043kg (2300 lbs) thanks to space frame chassis technology and a carbon fibre body shell and are powered by naturally aspirated 3.0-litre V6 engines. These V6 powerplants deliver 193kW (262hp) of grunt, which may not sound like much for a $140,00 (£60,000) exotic but because the cars are light weight, Farbio claims they can accelerate from zero to 96km/h in just 4.8 seconds.
There will also be a supercharged version of the GTS, which boosts the V6's power out to a more convincing 282kW (384hp), and this allows the Farbio GTS to rocket to 96km/h from rest in a reported 3.9 seconds, which is scintillatingly quick.
Other features of the new British-built Farbio GTS include a leather and Alcantara sports interior with Sparco seats that can comfortably seat taller driver (up to 6'6" tall) and some niceties too, such as satellite navigation.
